At the Supreme Ooart Criminal alttings, Joseph Swindell and James McCree for breaking into and stealing were sentenced to two yearß probation. John White for assaulting Samuel Sandford, 12 months hard labor. George Tlllett, jonr assault with intent, two years hard labor and 25 lashes. William Frank Owen Johnston, sending threatening letters, 3 years penal servitude.

DuNßDiir, April 9. In the Tuapeka Mouth manslaughter oase, James Moßory, the prisoner, waa this evening acquitted by the jury after a retirement of two hourß. Tbe ohlef defence set up by Sir R. Stout was that the fatal blow with the knife was given by accused when on the ground, enable to escape and In fear of Berious bodily harm; The jury m returning % verdict of not guilty said they believed the wound was inflloted by prisoner when In fear of bodily harm. There was some applause m court at the verdict.
