It is understood that the appointment will not be formally announced for some time. The Farmers Protection Association demand that they should be placed on an equal footing with the Trade and Industrial Association. A series of resolutions were passed favoring single electorates, a boanty on wheat exports, that 25 per cent duty be imposed on imported grain as a protection against adulteration and imitation, that 25 per cent duty should be imposed on all imported stock and meat without rebate. Efforts will be made to get other cations to follow the example. The night watchman at the Princess Theatre last night, discovered a burglar at the door of the strong room. He fired at the man but missed him, and the burglar escaped. The safe contained a large sum of money. Numerous burglaries have been reported lately, apparently the work of an Otganised gang.
