HARBOR BOARD RETRENCHMENT.

The Harbor Board today resolved to reduce the annual expenditure by lowerIng the salaries of (ffiaia'sas follows: — Snoretary and Treasurer. £600 to £500 ,• first clerk. £275 to £225 ; Becond clerk, £200 to £175; Psrbormaßter and dockmaster, and wharfinger. £300 (O £250 ; •alenaltnan, £175 to £150; storekeeper, £175 to £150; assistant atorekeape-, £130 to £120. A recommendation by the Committee to whom the matter was referred, thattheservicesof theengineerand engineer's cadets be dispensed with, was ■ent baok to the Committee, several members being; opposed to the idea that the Engineer's department should bo ■wept away.
