TINWALD TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Tinwald Town Board was held en Thursday last. Present— Messrs Clark (m the chair) Soott, and Shearer. CORRESPONDENCE, Correspondence was read :— (1) From the Ashburton County Council, giving that body's assent to the proposed water Bapply for the town district, provided satlßfaotory arrangements couid bs made without taming the water into any race to pollute It j (2) From the Propertay-tar Commissioner re subsidy —The Clerk was Instructed to reply ; (3) From Seoretary to the Treasury re indebtedness cf looal bodies. — The Clerk was instructed to fill In the oeoeeaary form and return to the Treasury. PETITIOKS. A petition was reoeived from a number of ratepayers, praying that a footpath be formed along the west aide of Thomson atreet, from Graham's road to Agnes Btreet — The Surveyor to report to next meeting. Mr Doherty interviewed the Board, and presented a petition from seventeen ratepayers, requesting the Bo^ird to cut a drain down Johnstone street. — It was resolved to call for tenders for forming part of Johustone street to Grove Btreet, and cuttiDg drain to Angle, road. WATfIR SUPPLY. It was resolved th&t tenders be called for work m connection with water supply from Fraaer'a Creek, to be m by next meeting of the Board, and the Clerk was instructed to write to the railway aathorlUo3 for permission to bring the water across the railway line. LEASE It wa3 reaolved to call for tenders for leasing for a term of two year, the Gravel Reserve, near the saleyards. FOBDS . The Clerk waß instructed to apply to the County Council for tho sum of 303, amount spant m repairing ford across water-raca m Thompson 6treot, and to request that body to widen the drain ranning from the groat South Road to Thompson street. It was resolved to put a ford across the oreek la McMnrdo Btruet, tenders to bo In by next meeting. ROAD FORMATION. The Chairman informed the Board that Mr Bullock, acting for the Bauk of New South Wales, had interviewed him re formation of Angle Road, for which a Bum of £125 had been granted by the Bank. Mr Bullock had informed him that the Bank had agreed to let the money be spent on other roads oa the estate that are more urgently required, He (Chairman) had consequently withdrawn the advertisement calling for tenders for forming Angle Road. As no official communication had been reoeived either from Mr Bullock or the Bank the matter was lefc iv abeyance. ADJOURNMENT. After passiog accounts and transacting routine business the meeting adjourned.
