According to the Brussels correspondent of the " Times " extraordinary rich goldfields, extending over 25,000 square kilometres, have beon discovered m Surinam, between tho rivera Lava and Papanahoni. It is doubtful whether tho district belongs to the Netherlands or to France, tho frontier between Surinam and French Guinea being the river Marowyne, whioh is formed by the joining of the Lava and the Papanahoni, However, tho historical right soems to bo on the side of the f Netherlands, whioh established a post about j 100 years ago at tho meeting of the Lava and Papanahoni.
