Mr Larnach received a vote of coofidence from hia constituents at Dunedin. He was willing that Government should receive fair support, but waß annoyed that they had only dealt with the one question of retrenchment, while overlooking matters of policy. He approved of the reduction of members and the Land Bill, bat opposed the reduotion of the honorarluaa. The paltry reductions effected conld not care the depression. It would have been better to have spent £100,000 io order to retain the departing populatlon. He thought the railways shonld have been placed under a board for each Island. He declared strongly for promotion, and Bald If Government did not bring down a protection policy they would find themselves m an unpopular position The people desired pro'ection and woold have it. If the country were polled to morrow the banner of victory wo aid wave over protectionist principles
