Wellington", March 27 Tbe annual report of the Wellinjtov Manawitu Railway Company shows # h?' the gross proceeds of ?8 807 acr^a of 1 \x>.c. sold amounted to £67,294 7a Id, and tha\ there still remains m the hands of thy Company an area of 210,691 acres for future sale. In addition the Cjmpany has Btill to receive from the Government m fulfilment of their ointraofc land to the value of £29,805. „ The gross prooeeds of ♦he trsffio during the year amounted to £46,590 6< lOd. A pleading feature ia that the returns for the*hlit'en weeks ending 29th February, 1888, In comparison with the corresponding period of the preceding year, show an increase of £219 per week. Although not ehown on the balanoe-shaet the working account for the year showa a proflt of about £17,000 towards payment of debenture interest. The general results of the year's operations are of a highly satisfactory nature.
