PERILS OF THE SEA.

The perils of tha sea are no mere romance to three ladies who were landed by the steamer Timor at Liverpool on Tuesday, 17th January. They were the wife and daughters of the captain of an American schooner, the William and Richard, and they set out with him on his intended voyage from Wilmington, North Carolina, to Martinique. The cargo was lumber and there was a deck load. Thus dangerously equipped for storms, the vessel encountered terrible gales when two dayß from Wilmington. The deck houses were stove m, and all sleeping accommodation destroyed. The ladies were placed for safety m one of the eails ; but the terrors of the voyago culminated m the giving way of one of the mas'.s, and with one of them the cnpiafn's wife and daughters were carried overboard. Their escape from death m the circumstances is little short of miraculous, jlowever, they turvived the accident, and m spite of the shock had presence of mind enough to cling to the overhanging mast, from which with great difficulty they were rescued by the captain and crew.
