A lady correspondent writea, asking for a recipe for making the above. We are happy to be able to supply a first-rate ono. This ig it. Take a gallon of tomatoes and cat them in quarters and place them (n layers in au earthenware j*r or ot'ier suitable vessel, adding a handful of ealfc to each layer of fralt. let them stand for an hoar ; then dcaln off the liquor and add two to four onions sliced. Then place in a boiler op atew-p*n 2 quarts strong vinegar, £lb treacle, £lb immurd, 2 table Bpoonfuia ground ahsplco, 2ozj ground ginger, and 1 teaapoonful of Cayenne pepper, and set over a clear fire. When the vinegar begins to boil, pnt in the tomatoes, and let them boil 15 minntea. Then plaoe in bottles or jara aod cover while hot.
