The owner of the horse Southerly Buster has protested against the stakes of the Hawkesbury Handicap being paid to the owner of Alma, on the ground that the race was started eight minutes before the time on the official programme. The protest was disallowed, and the stewards have been served with a writ, which will be taken before the Supreme Court.
Only Carlyon, Abercorn, and Australian Peer are left in the St. Leger. Carlyon is favorite for the Sydney Cup at 4to i. Arsenal and Acme sto 1.
