Mr J. Powell Williams, M.P. for Birmingham, moved an amendment m the House of Commons to the eftect that all debts owing by tenants m Ireland should be dealt with on the same basis ag it. was proposed to deal with the arrears of rent due. The amendment was carried (lost?) by 128 to 243. Mr Parnell's Irish Land Bill has been rejected on the motion for, its second reading.
