Sir Hairy Atkinßon has done a bold thing m appointing the principal members of his Committee to the Commission of tbe Peace m a batch. Mr Hislop, it is Bftld, killed two horses m canvassing the district, but he has done well. An Act vu passed last session to give him '• relief," aad now hels on the Commission Mr Donald Ooutts waß bo active on behalf of his man that he lost his head, and before he found it again, he was touting for the Bryce party m working up evidence for the notorious petition case. Mr Brett was particularly active, and has had his reward, The others fought like tigers for the Major. There is one name Dot on the list, for the simple reason that he wsb on it before, but he has had his special reward. Mr Bate has been appointed Coroner m the place of Mr Wray. Mr Parkinson, as editor of the Hawera ." Star," bas earned all be has got at the hands of Sir Harry, if it was only for the exoellent reports he gave of tbe Msjor'B ■peeches. There is nothing now left but for the combined troupe to meet and return thanks for the favor.
