New Plymouth, Maroh 20. A large meeting took place at Parihaka on Saturday and Sunday, from 1500 to 2000 natives being present. Te Whiti addressed the Natives privately, the purport of his address has been kept secret, le Whiti, m answer to a European who knew him well, stated that he would never stop protesting against the wrongs of the Maoris. In answer to the question, " But what is the use of protesting," Te Whiti replied, "Neither you nor I can tell what will be the result of my work, but this I know, I will have these meetings and show passive resistance to the Government as long as I live, or until the Maoris have got their rights." The Natives who have assembled from other parts of the coast began to disperse on Monday, and returned to their homes, There were large quantities of provisions for the f east, aDd the Natives visiting Parihaka gave large presents to Te Whiti.. The more intelligent Natives admit that Te Whiti is no prophet, and has no miraculous power, but they cay he \a a " man of knowledge," and he will always hold sway with a large bulk of the Nativeß,
