Hydnby, Maroh 19. Nothing has yet been heard of the 1 fate of Sir Alfred Stephens' Divorce Extension Bill which was sent Home for the Queen's approval many months - ago. The " Telegraph " says it is understood that influences are at work to shelve it, and it accuses the Church of England and the Legislative Council minority of attempting to excite the feeling of the Home authorities against it. The Waratah miners having refused to accede to the company's terras with reference to the rate of wages for taking out waste, were locked out this morning. Several people who were residents of Greenwich at the time of the tragedy write to the local papers stating that from their personal recollections, Carroll's confession of the murder of Miss Clouston must be the result of an hallucination. One writer states that a similar confession was made at tb,e time. of the murder. The Casual Labor Board report that the ranks of the unemployed are decreasing. Nine months ago there vyere 5600 unemployed m Sydney, whilst now there are only between 1509 and 1600. Trident, Cranbrook and Lava haya been scratched for the Sydney CJoid Cup. ' The" Lubeck brings news to the effect that H.M. Sandfly, which recently arrived at Tonga, passed Falcon Island, a recently discovered volcanic island near the Tongan group, \yhich was seen to be exceedingly active and ejecting great quantities of ashes. The flames from the burning mountain were' very brilliant at night and were seen for a, , great distauce,
