Sydney, March 17. In consequence of the number of disorderly scenes m the Legislative Assembly recently the Government -tew* --••wtirew- T.-U— xirc — ia-»*au»h -o **r*zZZ ment for a copy of the procedure rules adopted by the House- of Commons, with a view to proposing the adoption here of such of the new rules as may be suitable to the circumstances of the Colonial Legislature. There have been over sixty incidents of a disorderly character this session. Information to hand from New Guinea states that the German Company has spent over ,£250,000 m exploring the country. All the harbors m German territory have been surveyed and a number ot stations have been planted along the coast. Large sugar plantations have been started, which it is anticipated will prove very successful, native labor being cheap and abundant. The Company is encouraging emigration from Australia. The ship Aristomena, with 2700 tons of coal on board, consigned to San Francisco, caught fire at Newcastle at five o'clook this morning. The fire is supposed to have originated m some flax, which was stowed under a lecker. The pumps were set to work at once, and an immense bodj of water was put into the ship, when she showed signs of sinking, and the officers decided to run the vessel ashore. At four o'clock this morning the fire was got under without the ship having sustained any serious injury. The cost of repairs is estimated at Newcastle, Maroh 17. A strike is imminent at the South Waratah colliery mine. A dispute with the men as to the rate of pay for taking out waste is the cause of the disagreement.
