SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

Adelaide, February 29.

The quarantine regulations have now been published m a proclamation m the Government "Gazette." Besides restrictions on passengers from all Chinese ports, it similarly restricts those from the Malay Peninsula, Singapore, Timor, Netherland dependencies, and India. Sixty-three claims have been pegged off on the ruby fields, comprising 2520 acres for English and Australian syndicates. Rothschilds and other European capitalists are said to be largely interested m the venture. The land was selected by a Sydney surveyor, who travelled overland from Bourke to prevent rumors of his mission reaching Adelaide and bringing rivals into the field.

A disease similar to that discovered by Drs. Butcher and Ellis has been found amongst rabbits on a run forty mile? west of the Darling district. The rabbits are dying hi thousands. It is expected that the country will be cleared of them m the dry weather. It is proposed to distribute infected rabbits amongst those districts troubled with the pest, but the G3vernment adheres to its decision not to allow this until the scientific Commission has considered the matter.
