Two mailmen have been drowned m swollen rivers during the recent floods m the Northern parts of the colony. One of the victims was endeavoring to take provisions to an isolated party cut oft by the floods.
A search party has been sent out to look tor the ship East Munster and the briganune Kate, which it is feared have met with an accident m the recent hurricanes off the coast, a number of buoys, etc., bearing the name East Munster, having been found m the vicinity of Capal Bay.
The Cabinet have decided to apply o the home authorities to be allowed :o establish a local mint m this city.
A family of five persons was poisoned at Charters Towers through eating sago which it was discovered was tainted with arsenic. Two children have since succumbed. The sago was found m an old brick camp and was used unknowingly.
Ii is reported that an important discovery of platinum has been made m Queensland but the exact locality of the discovery is being kept secret.
