The English wheat market is heavy, the continental steady and the American dull; Australian wheat ex-warehouse 34s 9d, New Zealand 335. 6d. Tallow steady, best mutton 275, beef 245, Russian 255, hides 3j4& per lb. Leather extra heavy iod. Scotch pig iron 44s 3d.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited,' has received the following cable message from London, dated February 25:— Wool — The sales closed this day at the level of last sales except for superior greasy, superior combing washed, superior scoured merino and coarse crossbred, which have advanced nearly J<£d per lb ; medium and inferior greasy, inferior washed merino and inferior scoured merino have declined J^dper lb. Superior greasy merino -lambs has advanced J^d per lb, and greasy merino lambs have declined j£d per lb since close of last sales. The sales comprise about 255,000 bales; 153,000 bales have been taken for the Continent, and 5090 for America; 27,000 bales have been held over for future disposal. Frozen Meat— The price of mutton has advanced per lb since last report.
