THE BURRA-BURRA MINE.
The Burra-Burra copper mine, which the cable informs us has been purchased by an English Copper Syndicate, is m the immediate neighborhood of Kooringa, South Australia. It was discovered by a shepherd named Picldtt m 1844, and operations were begun m September. Until a iiow years ago an averago of 10,000 to 13,000 tons of ore have been raised yearly, yielding pure copper to tho amount of about 2,500 tons, vahiod at about £200,000. During thirty-one years from the commencement of opcrAtif.np, 2150C0 tons of ore, valued at £4,000,000, have boon raised. At one time nearly 1200 hands wero employed m working the ore. Dividends amounting m all to £782,320 have boon paid from this mine. Owing to the unremunorative price of copper, mining operations have for some time b^en suspended, but tho recent rise m tho price of the metal hus again suggested (ho possibility of once more working the mine at a proiit
