a _ To toll the age of any horse, Inspect the lower jaw of course ; Tho front s'x tooth tho tale will tell, And every doubt aad fear dispel. Two midd'e * nippers' you behold, Before the colt is six weeks old, Before eight weeks' two more will come : Eight months the corners, cut tho gam, Tho outsido groove? will disappear From middle two m just one year. In two years from the second pair ; In throe, the • corners ' too are bare. At two tho middle • nippers' drop, At throe the second pair can't stop. When four yearß old the third pair goes, At five a full now set ho shows. The deep black spots will pass from view At six yeara from the middle two ; Tho second j?air at seven years, At eight the spot oach 'corner' clears. From middle ' nippers' upper jaw At nine the black spots will withdraw ; The second puir at ten are white ; Eleven finds too • corners' light. As time goes on the horsemen, know, Tho oval teeth throe tided grow ; The longer get, project before, Till twenty when we know no more.
