Oaibo Faibrutry 17. A messenger has just arrived m this city from Khartoum. His report, it

is said, throws additional light on the fall of that cily, but for tbe present the report will not be made public. It has leaked out. however, that Staten Bey and Lupton Bey are still at Khartoum, The former has been appointed com* mander of the Mahdi's forces, and has grown powerful and insolent. He has absolutely refused to join the Khedive's service. Lupton Bey is suspected by the Arabs, and is carefully watched.
