The Fire Brigade Demonstration at i Ohristohurch appears to be turning out a j grand aucceßS. On Saturday evening | (aays the " Lyttelton Titnea ") a number j of the members of the visiting Bfgades j were eotortained at a smoke 000o j rfc at. the Ohristchuroh Working Men's Olub Several very good songs wore sang, and the time honored bat ever popular " Bom bastes Farisso " was performed by memben of the Ciub. It was followed by a j tableau of Britannia surrounded by rep- ■ i vesentativea of the army and mvy. "Rale Britannia" and the National Anthem brought a very pleasant evening to & oloaa j Oq Sunday there was a Ohuroh Parade a; the Cathedral In which no less than 26 Brigades, numbering nearly 200 men took [ part. We notice that among these was the Ashbarton Brigade. Their progress through the streets was attended by a large crowd, and the Cathedral w»s filled |In every part The service was aonduatei by the Very Ray the Dean, assisted by the Rev Canon Ootterlll. The Dean preached from St M*rk, xlii, 85 7j " Watch ye therefore, for ye know not. when the Master of the house ootneth." There la to be a torchlight procession f.unighc and a aocial gathering at the Oddfellows' Hall on Wednesday evening. [Pjbb Press association.] Chbistchorrh. February 20 The Fire brigade Association met this morning, i'he annual report stated that si Brigades had joined during the year, making 43 Brigiices on the rol>, with a memberehip of over 1000 The balance eheet showed receipts £494 3s 9d, expenses £392 7a, credit balance £101 16s 7d. A protest from the Spit Brigade against the alteration of conditions for hose and hydrant competition for five men was not allowed. The question of admitting Fire Police and Salvage Corps to the Association wa» de|erred till next con ference, the executive meanwble to draw np special rules applicable to them Papers were received from Oapt Page on providing prop r accommodation for and pecuniary asaiaanoe to Brigades and i making suggestions for the working of | Brigades. Captain Mttohell reported that he had been untble to obtain remission of part fares for delegates travelling by Union Company's Bteamera
