wrDNBT, February 13. Hanlan has withdrawn frorft the sculling race with Neilson, m which he bad to concede the latter a start. The Centennial rifle matches commenced here to-day. The were 600 competitors on the range. The scores registered were only fair, the weather seriously interfering with good shooting. Mr S.anley, a Government veterinary j surgeon, has forwarded a report to the I Rabbit Department, m which he expresses the opinion that the rabbit disease proposed to be introduced by Drs Butcher and Ellis is not sufficiently virulent to exterminate the rabbits, but he states that the disease is innocuous toother animal life. Mr Stanley is ais » of opinion that the inoculation scheme of Professor Watson is not virujent enough.
