THE MAIL SERVICES.

The Agents-General have made enquiries m regard to the alteration of j the dates of departure of the P. and O. mail steamers from Adelaide, with the result that the Secretary's department of the General Post Office opposes th^ proposed change. The agents now propose referring the question to Mr Cecil Raikes, Postmaster General. Tne mail companies also refuse to agree to Saturday afternoon deliveries m London on ihe ground that such a course would not be popular with bankers and merchants, as it involves a loss of two days' interest on drafts,, and would reduce the advantage at present gained by tfte increased speed.

The December colonial mails viq Sap Francisco were delivered to-day.
