THE GREENWOOD CONCERT
_ What, m relation to the hardness of the times and tho consequent noaroity of spending monfty m the pockets ot tha public, may be connidered a good house, but, ao oom pared to the deserts of the performers, wan decidedly a poor one, greeted the return visit of tho Greenwood Family at tho Oddfellows' Hall last evening. The programme— from the opening pianoforte duet by Misses Agatha and Ruby (vory pleasingly given) to the final amusing little vocal imroeav, m whioh five of the family took part— waß well oarriod out, and the performers otrtainly bad not to complain of a want of appreciation on the part of their audience, every item being applauded and enooroa frtquont. Misses S Maribel and Agatha have both woll-trained voices, and gave a very finished rendering of the Bonus selected from their repertoire for the evening, of whioh "Two Voices" (Misa Maribel), and " Ooine Baok to Erin " and the encore song to the latter (Mies Agatha), ' deoerve speoial commendation. While Mies : Agatha ia also no mean parformer on both j inßtrumentv, Mibs Maribol's thorough command of the violin and of tho piano rendered the instrumental items a treat such as is rarely afforded. Her rendering upon the lattor of Ueothoven'B well-known " Moonlight Sonata " was faultless, and evoked a storm ot applause, and wae only exoolled by her magnificent performance upon the more perfect instrument, the violin, of Da Beriot's "Septieme Air Tarie." This waa simply exquisite, and alone worth much more than the price of admission. We never heard the violin bo brilliantly handled by a lady performtr, and consider that Miss Maribel is entitled to take high rank among the masters of that instrument. The younger membors of the family, Miss Buby and Master Greenwood, also exhibit talent, but we cannot help a feeling that rather too ran oh strain ia being put upon them for their tender years. Altogether they give an excellent ovening'a entertainment.
