Since they were last here they hays been scoring great successes m the south, toe oritioisms of our contemporaries being most favorable, not to Bay enthusiastic. Of Mi'bb Maribel'a violin playing the editor of the "Oamaru Mail" (himßelf one of the most talented amateur violinists m tbe colony) writes m terms of the highest commendation, oomparing her style to that of the Master Wilhelmj. Court, this morning charged with lunacy. Ha was remanded till Thursday. A man named John Healy was arrested at Coldßtream by Constable Casey on a charge of forging receipts, The alleged offence ocourred while tbe aooused was oonstable % at Ekatabuna, m the Wellington district, and the sums involved are bnt small. The accused wts brought up this morning before Mr D. Wi'Hamson, J.P., and was remanded to Wellington.. The English mail vi/i San Franoiseo arrived m Ashbnrton per express train this morning, and was at once sorted and din- ' tributed by the postal officials. Major.Genoral Whitmore is now making a final tour of inspeo ion prior to severing his 1 connection with the Volunteer forces. We \ understand that he inspeots tbe Timaru corps on Tuesday evening, but owing to the harvest season, and for other reasons, it has been determined not to call on the outside oorps (Waimate, Geraldine, Temufea, and Ashbvrton) to attend.
