A few years later tho Colonel died m England. TSdward, the elder brother, went to Michigan where all trace was loat oi | him. William, from whom tbe fortune comes, went to Broiklyn, white be grew rioh &nd known as a miser, Iv 1876, ho died childless, leaving a fortune uf £60,000. He left most of his monsy to found an orphanage but the beqaest wjs sot aside No heir appeared, and the money w»a covered In time into the State Treatury. Tuere are five heirs to this fortune and four of them are la America. The eldest Is an editorial writer on the " No* York Herald." One son is praotlulng law In Manitoba, and the third son Is a reporter no tbe 'Philadelphia Press."
