A Russian officer has been brought to St Petersburg m a dying condition. He made a confession to the effect that be was chosen by ballot of a secret society to which he belonged, to shoot the Czar, and that failing to carry out the duty which had fallen to him he became fearful of the consequences which would result to him at the hands of his fellow conspirators and therefore attempted suicide.
