[MB FBBSS ASSOCIATION.] An Oanibua Accident. Auci_XA_-D Jannary 31. Edward Hodgklns, omnibus driver, broke his leg by falling from his omnibus when returning from Takapuna races on Satarday evening. The bone waa badly smashed by tbe wbeela going over it, and tbe surgeon at the hospital said that amputation wrs ihe only hope of raving the injured man's life. Hodgklns, however, steadily re'u.ed to permit amputation, and Is now dying, nnconsolous, BlOltlfiottlon having oommenood. Ano.lwr Fire. A fire m bpuug attest, Freeman s Bay, •ally this morning, destroyed three houses oeenpled by Messrs Anderson, Scott, and Olnes. Tbe Insurances are not known. Bobberies From Shops; TaTJoahga, January 31. Fot some time pa . t systematic robberies ef two drapers' shops (Wright's and Dale's) have been carried on, the premises having been broken into at night. Three young man, John Allen, James Edward Redfern, end Edward Walter Ootoh, were arrested for the robberies and some of the stolen ertfolee were found m tbeir possession.
