Over tbe signature "Caution "a correspondent writes as follows to the 11 Lyttelton Times "of this day :— -I think it is muoh to be regretted that your correspondent should have given suoh a glowing aocount of the alleged discovery of tin ore at Alford Forest I have inspeoted the mineral which is suppoit-d by tbe prospto'ors to contain tin, and have no doubt that m a very short time it will be proved that the diacov-ry is a myth. 'J he mineral la simply pitchstone oontslning garni t«, and m other parts of New Zealand has been repeatedly mistaken for tin ston*. *The "globules cf tlo " obtained m the smelting prrcets are evidently derived from the mlik dishes or other (m vemels by tha notion of beat, No one would rrjo'ce more than I should at the disoovery of tin or •ay other metal m payable quantities, but, knowlrg what I do, I think it is only right to advise thoso who may take everything they sea m print for goepel, to wait for further developments, and not to jump bo conclusions too hastily,
