Mr D. Simpson, formerly Harbor Engineer m Dunedin, was picked up m an unconscious state m Pitt street last night, and died shortly after being admitted to the Hospital. The ceremony of unveiling the statue of Her Majesty the Queen, which was made by J. E. Boebm, R.A., was performed by Lady Carrington to* day m the presence of an immense crowd of spectators. The Governors of the several colonies were present, and brief speeches were delivered by Lord Carington and Sir Henry P,arkes? The unveiling of the statue "of Her Majesty the Queen took 1 place m t!he presence of thirty to forty thousand people. The proceedings were ex? tremely brȣf and very orderly. *"
