It will be remember that nearly two years ago Hi E. Wood, Curator of Intestate Estates, Adelaide, levanted from South Australia with a large sum of money. How much ls not exactly knew a ; but It Is 'supposed to be about £10 000 or £15,000 One Intestate estate which was #orth £7000 he oarried off In bulk. It was believed he took an American route. For some time the Government annourcvi bis capture as probable ; but nothing has now been heard of tbe matter* for some time. It was persistently rumored tha*!. although the American polioa, sHma... a . by the reward, offered to give v.ear iuformation as to the defaulter's whereabouts, several people of Influence here were deeply Interested m his not being brought back. Toe other day an old " friend of Wood's received a letter from a wandering South Australian, who oame aoro.is the execurator m a rising city of Northern Mexico, where he Is comfortably domiciled, and has risen to the poaitiou of corregidor, and enjoys considerable Eopalarlty Ha has purchased a fine Bohnda of some 10.000 acree, near the National Mexlcin Railroad, and lives half the year on his c state, where he dispenses hospitality with tras Mexican liberality; On the Sunday when hts quandom fellow countryman met him, he was presiding at • bull fight m his offioe of first magistrate of the olty. It does not appear what has become of his paramonr. with whom be fled from Adelaide, where he left a large family ; but m Mexloo the honors of his establishment were performed by a charming daughter of the oountry, whom be has married. The Senora Wood ii said to have brorght her husband a substantial dowry m addition to her beauty.
