OUR WONDERLAND.
Mr OockhtH, who visited Yolcanoland, informs the " New Zoaland Herald " that a terrace formation is steadily going on m the Walotapu valley, and that the distriot as well as that of of Orakelkorako, is full of interest to the tourlet. Rotomahana Lake Is now much larger than of old, apparently receiving tha whole of the drainage cf tbe country to the houth of it. There was nn sign of activity m the great rift at Taiawera, but tt am was rising at Lake Rototnakiri. The thermal action at the southern volo&noes, Echo Lake and Crater Lake, was greatly subdued, and m tome places had died out. Tbe late ralna had soour<_d out huge ravines m the volcanio deposit, making travelling extremely diffioult, and it- vtc. necessary to go along the ridges of tho rangeß to make any progr ss at all. At Whakarewarowa he noticed coneiderable changes ; terraoe formation was going on— white, yellow, and pink — and tho geysers Here much more aotive.
