THE POSTAL CONFERENCE

Svdkbt, January 24 The Postal Conference last evening decided that it would be advisable to connect Port Darwin with Burketown, Queensland, by telegraph so that when communication became interrupted on the transcontinental line another route Via Burketown would be available. After a lengthy discussion it was resolved not to join the Postal Union till each colony was allowed a delegate. Strong feeling on the subject was manifested during the discussion.
