The next morning we boarded her. A gala had struck the sloop, splitting hee open by wrenohing the mm. oat. In the aabln, whioh was half fall of water, were the bodies of eight men who had seem* Ingly died from starvation, as their bodies were badly emaciated. The sloop was the St. Pierre Island, and had a log-book *ept m Frenoh, which showed that she •ad left the port on July 28. The log was kept until the latter part of August, ifter whioh there was no reoord. He had no means of taking oare of the bodies, md so left them m the aabln. The iloop carried 14 men and six dorlei, The dories had all been oarried away. He cannot tall what became of the othef lis men, bnt thinks they were drowned*
