A GRAND SUCCESS.
Splendid nucseas has attended the operations for providing Baroaidlne, Qaeonßland, with an artesian nnpply of water. The bore was down 690 ft when the water was tapped, and it rushed to thesnrfaoe In five minutes, bringing with it a quantity of mud and stones. The temperature of the water was 120deg, Fahrenheit, but It soon fell to 102deg. at which it has remained. The water has been running away ever since at on estimated volume of from 150,000 to 200,000 gallons per day, and the fountain formed by the water rising over the top of the piping is a beautiful sight, and was omstantly vieited by the residents who remained for hours watching the water coming up and ftming over bo steadily thfct it resembled a glass dome placed over tho top of the 12in b->re. Heavy pieces of stone are constantly coming to t* esurfsca, the force of the water carrying up pieces as Ur^e as emu eggs. The oist nf boring has been estimated at £690 ; 4 1 per foot for 300 ft of 10 n piping, £60 ; and wood and water for engine, about £25 ; making a total of £775 With the exception of a few items foe salaries, etc., this has been the whole 0 Bt, At this small expense the Barcsridinians have secured the best ortcatan supply of water m A oß tralia within four weeks from tha tin^e & fvjr start vysa medd.
