IRISH AFFAIRS,

Dublin, January 17.

The Freedom of the city of Dublin has been conferred on the Marquis of Ripon and the Right Hon. John Morley. At the meeting of the Council at which it was decided to grant the foregoing honors, stormy and excited speeches were delivered.

Mr Shaw-Lefevre states m a letter that the Marquis of Clanricarde dare not allow evictions to continue despite coercion m the face of the facts which have been revealed of late.

Mr Michael Davitt corroborates the statement made by Mr Blunt that the Government were imprisoning the Nationalist leaders to assist them m solving m Irish difficulty.
