RAILWAY CHARGES.
A deputation of grain growers waited on the Railway Commissioners asking that m view of the 'railway lines paying well, a reduction of fifty per cent should be made on the present rates fcr the carriage of grain, as under the existing circumstances it was impossible to grow wheat at a profit. Mr Speight, Chief Commissioner, m reply said the rates for carrying agricultural produce were lower m the colonies than m America, and the Commissioners . did not feel justified m granting the con-* cessions aaked The deputation is dissatisfied with the result of tne interview and will appeal to Government.
