Lady Matheson, who owns a large estate m Lewis Island, has refused the demand of the Crofters 1 Land League that the crofters shall have their holdings restored to them at reduced rentals, and suggests that the crofters should emigrate. Further outbreaks are expected to occur m consequence of the refusal of theTaodlords to yield to the demands of the crofters.
