(PER PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Blenheim, January 11. The reports of the harvest, notwithstanding the Nor'weat gales, are favorable from all parts of the district. A reporter from the " Express " lately went round a considerable area, and his accounts are favorable. Jn some cases three or four bußhels per acre have been lost by the gales, but after all drawbacks the harvest will on the whole be a good one. There are some magnificent crops of wheat, oats, barley and potatoes, and the average is likely to be higher than m former years. An old resident who came out to Nelson early m the forties, died this morninp, — Mrs Olterson, mother of Mr Otte too, Clerk of Bills of the Housa of Kepresentatives. The deceased lady was age 1 84, and hid a large cirole of friends m Nelßon, Marlborough, Canterbury, and Wellington. Christchuroh, January 11. The Ashlelgh Brook s.t. has sailed | from Lyttelton for London with 34387 carcases of frozen mutton aud 285 bal«i wool. At the Supreme Court Archibald Mallook waa sentenoed to 6 months' hard labor for embezzlement. Charles Christian Sommers, charged with inciting Tolla L%ura laatt to commit arson, was acquitted. The hearing of the Little River murder caie has been postponed to Saturday. BurniDiic, January 11. Tha Ooean Beach railway from Danedtn to Forbary Park, with a branch to Anderson's Bay, was sold by auotldn to-day, The line has not been working for some years. The bidding started at £3000, and advanced to £4050, at which it fell to Mr R. Hay, 0.E., acting for Mr Horace Bastings, now of Melbourne. The Tarawera left to-day on her annual excursion to the Sounds with 97 passengers.
