Wellington, January 9, A warrant was asked fur m the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning against a Bolloltor m this oily npon a charge of obtaining money under falsa pretence*, on 31at December, from Gaieb Edmonds, brewer at Petoae. Informant stated that accused had presented a cheque for £2 to his (informant's) employer, receiving goods to the amount of 18i and £1 2i m change. The cheque was drawn on the Bank of New Sooth Wales, but npon beog presented was returned marked "No account." Informant then saw tbe drawer of the oheque, who promised to pay up the followipg Saturday, He did not do bo, and proceedings were accordingly taken. The presiding Justice deolined to issue a warrant, as he thought the matter could be jasfc as well prooaeded with on summons, Punbdin, January 9 Ninety-seven passengers have booked for the first excursion to be made to the Sounds by the Tarawera, starting on Wednesday.
