MARKET FOR BUTTER
Messrs Lewis and lanes under date LnndoD, November 18, write : "We have the pleasure to advise that we hftve this week sold a parcel of Now S<uth Wales butter at 112a per cwt, a price seldom realised for colonial produce. The parcel consisted of 56 boxes (about a ton nett), factory-made, and travelled homo m the refrigerating chamb er of the a b Orfzi^a, bat being packed m MeßSre Ponds' patent enatnol lined boxes, the contents withstood any Influence of front. < 'ur broker's rerort on the consignment is as follows : Quality very good, color fair, sweet, and m r,ood condition. '*.Ye estimate that the butter contained about 2 per cent salt, but a trifle more, say 1 per cent, is recommended to aeßiat m keeping after arrival here, We understand other parcels are now on their way home from the same company, and will be continued np to Maroh. April. Should the standard of quality be maintained, there are good proßpects of similar prices being secured, aa the market Is at present m by no means a flourishing state, Improvement is confidently expected after Christmas.'
