A STORMY PASSAGE.
. ♦ ■■- Dunedin, January 3. The ship Turakina, Captaia Power, from London, has arrived. Her passage, which has only occupied 84 days, has been a Tory stormy one, and she comes into port showing evident signs of the ; -heavy weather she has had to encounter. On November 19th a heavy B.W. gale set m, aud at 9 p m on that day, whilst the Chief Officer (Mr Fielder), the Third Officer (Mr Pilllett), and a seaman named Pope were m the act of stowing the jib, the vesiel plunged heavily, washing all three men overboard. The next sea washed the Third Officer aboard again. It was impossible to render any assistance, the night being pitch dark and a* mountainous sea running. During tha sfimo gale one oF her boats washed clenm out of the davits, the forepart of th» deckhouse got staved in,theflying jibboora carried away, and it was with difficulty the foretopgalUnt mast was oaved. The gale lasted for four -days, during whioh time the vessel's decks were continually flooded.
