Sydney, January 2, The Papal Jubilee was celebrated j here and at Melbourne by special Cathedral services yesterday. Rome, January 1. It is not expected that any royal personage will attend the Papal Jubilee. (Received January 3, 4.30 a.m.) Rome, January 1, His Holiness the Pope officiated personally at St Peter's yesterday on the occasion of his Jubilee services, being assisted by forty-eight Cardinals and two hundred and thirty-eight Bishops. The congregation numbered thirty thousand. The Pope delivered his blessing urbt en orli, and wore the triple crown presented to him by the | Emperor of Germany. His Holiness j displayed excessive emotion, fainting twice before mass. The Duke of Norfolk, who conveyed Her Majesty the .Queen's congratulations, occupied a place of honor during the ceremony. The whole celebration was a memorable and imposing spectacle. (Received Jatinary 3, 2 30 p.m. It is estimated that fully sixty thousand people attended the special mass m commemoration of the Papa! Jubilee. The sacerdotal procession was of extreme length, and was splendidly arranged. His Holiness the Pope was received wi»h immense enthusiasm, the large assemblage heartil/ cheering him and clapped hands on bis arrival. Waving of hats and handkerchiefs continued during the presence of his Holiness. King Humbert m receiving the members of both branches of the Italian Parliament slated that, the success attending the Jubilee was proof that His Holiness the Pope fully re tamed the confidence of the people.
