Fire. Welunqtoh, December 23. A fire broke oat ia Cuba street North, at 3,30 this morning and was not anbdued till the upper floor of three donble-sturled buildings had been completely gatted. The block was owned by B, Dixon, and the buildings were oooopied by Levy {grocer), Mawson (bsker; and Zlman (pawnbroker). The fire broke bat io the bakehoaae »t the rear of Mawoon's premises, the fl tmes speedily oommunlcatIng with the upper portion of Zlman'i premises, from whioh they rapidly spread along the upper floor of the block. A copious supply of water was available and the flames were subdued before they reached the lower floor of the buildings, but the stook m all the shops wai considerably damaged by water. The batld« logs were insured for £2000 m tbe Victoria ; Levy's etook for £500 m the Viotoria ; Mawnon'a stook for £100 m the Victoria and Ziman pawnbroker's stock for £400 m the Colonial. . Compensation Court. At the Oompeuaation Court before Mr Jnstlaa Richmond, and two Assessors this mornlag, judgment was given m the olaim made by Stowart and Go, against the Oorporatiou for £94,000, deprivation of foreshore rights. The Court awarded the claimants £5000 worth of re-dslmed lan 4 m eatlefaction of their olulm, the olaimanti to pay eaoh aaseaaor 50 guineas and' 10'Q guineas costs of Court. ' ' v "
