» LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL; Tuesday, December 20. The Council met at 2.30 p m. THE LAWD BILL. The managers of the free conference o both Houses on the Land Bill reportei that a compromise had been arrived at U the effect that the Land Boards be left th< same as under the existing Act. The report was agreed to. GOVKBNMENT RAILWAYS BILL, The Government Railways Bill waß reat a third time and passed. DISCHABGED. The Otago Central Railway Bill wai discharged from the Order Paper on the motion of Mr Millar, who undertook t< draft a bill dealing with the subjeot during the recess. BILLS PASSED. The Otago Harbor Bill was committed, reported, and passed. TtePukehohe Borough Bill was committed, reported, and passed. Thf Wairarapa North County Counoii Empowering Bill was committed, reported with amendments, and pasped,. 7ISHEBIES BILL. The Fisheries Conservation BUI was read a first time. The Oounoil- adjourned at 4.85 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. The Council resumed at 7.30 p.m; FIRST RBAOTKOS. The Taranaki West Licensing Bill and the Pnbllo Reserves Bill were read a first time, the second readings being made an order for next day. The Attorney-General explained that the last named Bill wonld hot be printed till next day. Several other Bills were also expected down shortly, but he thoight it would be waits of time to sit later that evening. He therefore proposed that the Conneil at its rising adjourn till next day at 10 30 am, MESSAGE THOU THE EOOBB.' A message was received from the House Intimating that the House had agreed to the report of the free conference on the Land BUI, and had also agreed to the Cooacll's amendments In the District Drajnaga BUI, and those m the Building Societies Bill. The Council at 7 48 p.m. adjourned to 10 80 next day.
