THE NEW HEBRIDES.

Melbourne, December 8. A deputation of representatives of the Presbyterian Church waited upon Lord Carnarvon to-day m connection with the New Hebrides question. The deputation declared that the French Government interfered with their converts and plantations and asked His Lordship to lay the case before the imperial authorities, and beg that the rights of tbe British settlers might be respected. Lord Carnarvon replying sympathised with the request of the deputation, but carefully abstained from expressing an opinion on the subject. His Lordship, however, promised to comply with tbe desires of the deputation m bringing the matter under the notice of her Majesty's Government,
