The Council met at 2.30 p.m. NOTICES TO INTRODUCE, Sir Froderick Whltaker gave notice to Introduce on Tueeday a Bill to reduoe tho honorarium of Councillors to £100, also to , introduce a Bill to repeal the Native Land | Administration Act, and a Bill to amend the .Native Land Act., 1886. J SORIPrURE, LESSON 800K.3 Mr Hart moved that the Government should obtain copies of Scripture lesson books of the school board of England and Wales, with a view to their introduction In the State schools of New Zealand. The motion, after discussion, was negatived, on an amendment that tho question be now put. MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS BILL, Mr Stevens moved the second reading ' of the Municipal Corporations Bill. After, discussion, the debate, on the motion of Mr Buokley, was adjonrned to Tuesday, VALIDATION BILL, The Publlo Proclamation Validation Bill waa reported without amendment, SLAUGHTER HOUSES BILL. The Slaughter Bouses Amendment Bill was oommltted. A discussion was raised on the oKuse fixing slaughterers' annual fee at £25 instead of collecting so muoh per head oa stock killed. The motion for the adjournment of the debate waa lose oa » division^ The debate was Interrupted by the 5 p.m. adjournment. XIXI.B ADVANCED, The Coancll In committee on the Slaughter House Bill, resumed at 7.30 p.m. The Bill was reported without amendments, and was passed through its final stages, as also was the Publlo Proclamation Validation Bill. The Oamaru Harbor Board Loan Bill was further considered In Committee. Part I giving power to borrow to pay old mortgage aud debentures was struck out on the motion of Dr Pollen. Clause 10 was amended with a view to give power to borrow to pay off existing liabilities, bat not for dredging purposes or improvements. The BUI was reported aa amended, and the Council adjonrned at 9. 10 till Monday.
