The Slaughterhouses Bill, New Ply-] mouth Borough and Harbor Board Bill, and Oamaru Harbor Board Loan Bill were read a second time. A division was called for on the latter by Mr Campbell, resulting— Ayes 28, noes 3. BILL PASSED. The New Plymouth Raoeoourse and Reserve BUI went through Committee wlthont amendment, and passed Its final etages. MIDLAND RAILWAY. The adjourned debate on the Midland Railway Company's revised contract was resumed. Alter discussion Mr Waterhome withdrew hts amendment at the request of Sir F. Whttaker, who professed to meet the views of the supporters of the j amendment for a select committee by •mending olauae 3. Mr Merz.es moved the adjournment of the debate till next day. Agreed to, and the Council, at 5 p.m., adjourned to the following day.
