FATAL BOAT ACCIDENT.
Tauranoa, November 28
Shortly after 6. o'clock laßt night a fatal boating accident ooourred. Five men, Oalneo Moss, Fitzgerald, MoOandliab, and a Native, were out m the harbor trying » new boat just built for one of the sailing races at the regatta. The boat was oarrying an Immense sail, and when jibbing, was struck by a Btrong gust of wind ard over tamed and sank. A boat put cff from shore and picked up Fi'zgera^d and McOandlish, the former being quite exhausted, and a sailing boat which happened to be out In the harbor, picked up Mobs and the Native, both having had a etraegle to keep np with their clothing, and heavy boots on. Oalneß was drowned and his bodyisDOfc recovered. He was onable to iwim. Oalnes was about 50 years of ape and leaves a wife. He was a boat builder by trade and had been a resident here for lome years.
